Director
A long-term membership in the RNSIC, has afforded me many opportunities to meet many outstanding clinicians and researchers dedicated to the care of individuals with respiratory conditions.
My nursing education began in San Diego with a nursing Diploma program, continued in the study of science at Utah State University and the University of Utah, and more recently resulted in graduation from the PhD Nursing Program from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, in Bethesda, MD. My areas of research focus have been pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial infection, inflammatory cytokine patterns in mycobacterial infection, sputum collection methods, and airway clearance.
My work path took me on additional side journeys to West Africa, caring for teams serving those infected with Ebola virus and supporting vaccination efforts for disease prevention. I am contributing to studies for the management of HIV and TB. Most importantly to me personally, I have always been clinically present at the bedside supporting patients and staff as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
